Pop out: EVE Online map tools in an always-on-top window
Pop out lifts part of EO-Map's map of EVE Online into a small browser window that stays on top of your other windows. Four things have it: the live card of reported kills, the whole New Eden feed, Intel and Creator Mode. Park the window on a second monitor, or over the game while EVE runs in a borderless window. It is the same tool in a different place: it keeps its look, what you typed or picked, and its link to the map. It is free, it runs in your browser, and there is nothing to install.
Desktop only. The Pop out button appears in desktop browsers. Phones, the phone layout and maps embedded in other sites have no Pop out button. The feed and the live card are part of Watch view, which needs a desktop browser window of at least 1280 × 720 CSS pixels.
What pops out
The live card
The card at the top of Watch view's New Eden feed, with reported kills and sovereignty changes as they land. It pops out on its own at its fifteen-row size and Watch view stays. Its place in the feed keeps a slim row with Bring back.
The New Eden feed
The whole feed, live card included, with its filter chips and cards. While it is out, the main window switches to Map view. Return the feed or close the window and Watch view comes back, unless you changed view yourself in the meantime.
Intel
Paste a Local member list or a D-scan into the floating Intel and read who is around you, with the map in its own window. The Lookup, History and Settings tabs come with it.
Creator Mode
Every Creator Mode control, in the floating window. Press Hide UI on the main window, or use Creator's own Clean plate, and the map is left on its own while Creator stays in the window, so the panel never sits in your shot.
One window, as tabs or a stack
The Pop out button is the ⧉ in the title bar of Intel and Creator Mode, before Minimise, beside the New Eden feed's title, and on the live card. Once the floating window is open the button reads Add to floating window and adds the next tool as a tab, so there is only ever one window. The strip along its top switches between Tabs, one tool at a time, and Stack, every tool one above the other with its own Collapse. EO-Map remembers that choice in this browser.
On the map, a popped tool's place shows In floating window with a Bring back button, and its ⧉ button reads Bring back too. In the window, each tab has its own Return to map, and in Stack each tool has a Return button. Closing the floating window puts everything back where it was, with what you typed, what you picked and the scroll position kept. The tool still works with the map while it is out: click a row in the floating live card and the map selects that system.
On top of the game, and the limits
In Chrome, Edge and Opera on a desktop computer the window is the browser's Document Picture-in-Picture window, which stays above other windows, including EVE while the game runs in a window or in borderless windowed mode. Exclusive fullscreen hides every ordinary window, this one included, so switch EVE to windowed or borderless if you want it on top. The window is opaque and it is not click-through: clicking it takes keyboard focus from the game until you click back. You can move it to another monitor and resize it, and the browser may remember its last size and position for the site.
Safari, and any desktop browser without Document Picture-in-Picture, gets an ordinary popup window with the same tabs and stack. It does not stay on top by itself; on Windows, PowerToys Always On Top (Win+Ctrl+T) can pin it. If the browser blocks pop-ups for the site, nothing opens until you allow them.
Creator Mode on one screen, the map on another
Pop Creator Mode out, press Hide UI on the main window, and the main window shows only the map while Creator keeps working in the floating window. Creator's own Clean plate does the same. Press F on the main window for full screen, and the map fills one monitor while you change its look, colours, effects and camera from the other. Neither Hide UI nor Clean plate reaches into the floating window.
What keeps running
With a floating window open and the map's tab hidden, minimised or covered by the game, EO-Map pauses the 3D map and the tickers in that tab, as a hidden tab always has, while the floating window keeps updating. Live rows keep arriving in a floating live card, and a floating feed keeps re-checking its snapshots every 2 minutes. Closing or reloading the map's tab closes the floating window, and nothing reopens it without a click.
How to pop something out
- Open EO-Map in a desktop browser. For the feed or the live card, switch to Watch view with the button at the bottom right of the map, or press T.
- Press ⧉ in the title bar of Intel or Creator Mode, beside the feed's title, or on the live card.
- Move the window where you want it: over the game in a borderless window, or on a second monitor. Press ⧉ on another of the four to add it as a tab.
- Press Bring back or Return to map, or close the window, to put everything back on the map.
Part of EO-Map
Pop out is a way of placing EO-Map's tools, not a separate app and not an in-game overlay. Nothing is installed and nothing reads the game client: the floating window shows the same data as the map, from the same snapshots and the same live stream, and it closes with the map's tab.

Frequently asked questions
Is there an EVE Online map overlay that stays on top of the game?
Yes, as a floating window rather than an in-game overlay. EO-Map's Pop out moves the live card, the New Eden feed, Intel or Creator Mode into an always-on-top browser window in Chrome, Edge and Opera on a desktop computer. It sits over EVE while the game runs in a window or in borderless windowed mode, and there is nothing to install.
Does Pop out work over EVE Online in fullscreen?
Not in exclusive fullscreen, which hides every ordinary window, this one included. Run EVE in windowed or borderless windowed mode and the floating window stays above it. It is opaque and not click-through, and clicking it takes focus from the game until you click back.
Which browsers keep the window always on top?
Chrome, Edge and Opera on a desktop computer, through the browser's Document Picture-in-Picture window, and any other browser that supports it. Safari and other desktop browsers get an ordinary popup with the same tabs and stack that does not stay on top by itself. Phones, the phone layout and embedded maps have no Pop out button.
Can I keep Creator Mode on one monitor and the map full screen on another?
Yes. Pop Creator Mode out and drag the window to your second monitor, then press Hide UI or Creator's Clean plate on the main window. The map is left on its own and Creator keeps working in the floating window. Press F on the main window to make the map full screen.
Why can't I pop out other EO-Map tools?
Pop out is kept to four parts of the map: the live card, the New Eden feed, Intel and Creator Mode. Every other window stays on the map as before. Any of the four can join the same floating window as a tab.
