About EO-Map

EO-Map is a free, community-built map of New Eden, the star cluster of EVE Online. It draws the whole cluster in 3D and in a flat 2D layout, it runs in an ordinary browser, and it needs no account and no download. This page covers what it does, where its data comes from, how the project is run, and how to reach it.

What EO-Map is

EO-Map is one page that holds the map and every tool that reads it. The universe view draws New Eden's 5,485 solar systems and 13,978 directed stargate connections, grouped into 799 constellations and 70 regions, and also draws 2,604 Anoikis systems at their real coordinates. From there you can plan a stargate route between any two New Eden systems, model capital jump ranges and hull-specific jump routes, plan Ansiblex bridge networks and simulate fleet moves under the announced Cradle of War rules, read current alliance sovereignty and replay how nullsec was divided since June 2007, watch reported kills land on the map as they arrive, paint Combat geography, switch on Color By and Layers overlays for system activity, Metaliminal Storms, raidable Skyhooks, public Thera and Turnur connections, Sansha incursions and faction warfare contest state, and embed a chrome-free copy of the starfield on another site.

The point of putting all of that in one session is that a route and the state of the space it crosses can be read together. A path drawn across nullsec sits on top of the sovereignty colours, the recent kills and the activity heat for the same systems, so the answer to where am I going and the answer to what is happening there are the same picture.

Tools open from a rail on the left, with everything else in a library you can search or pin from. Panels remember their position and their settings between visits. A search box finds systems, constellations and regions by name, and the System Finder builds lists by attribute instead. The interface ships in seven languages; these discovery pages are English only.

Where the data comes from

The shape of New Eden comes from the pinned official EVE Online Static Data Export, build 3464040. That single artifact gives the systems, the constellations, the regions, the stargate graph and the security values. It is pinned rather than re-fetched on a schedule, so a saved route cannot quietly change meaning underneath you, and the universe moves only when the published game data moves. A second, larger database carries per-system celestial detail. It is background-loaded after the universe map renders and cached in the browser. Solar System View and Skyhook planet labels reuse it.

The layers that move come from public sources. Current sovereignty, contests, alliance names, system activity, incursions, faction warfare state and raidable Skyhooks all derive from EVE Online public data, collected on a schedule and served to the map as compact snapshots rather than every browser fanning out to upstream services on its own. Live killmails and Combat geography come from the zKillboard public feed; EO-Map is not a killboard, it shows where ships are dying on the map, and clicking a live event opens the real killmail on zKillboard. Public Wormholes and Metaliminal Storms come from EvE-Scout / Signal Cartel observations. Every panel or overlay prints the age of what it is showing, so a stale layer says so instead of pretending to be live.

How the project is run

EO-Map is free and it stays free. There is nothing to buy, no premium tier, no advertising and no sponsored placement anywhere on the map. There is no EO-Map account, so there is no sign-up, no password and no profile attached to you. You can optionally log in with your EVE Online character to send a route to the game client, using CCP's own SSO, and features that need more, such as personal route checks and My Geography, ask for one further permission at a time and only when you choose them; that login stays in your browser and is deleted when you log out, and what those features read stays in the page rather than reaching the project. Your settings, filters and routes are worked out on your own machine and stay in your own browser storage.

Site traffic is measured with Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics, plus EO-Map's own anonymous usage counters, all reporting aggregate figures only. There is no advertising technology of any kind. The privacy page sets that out in full.

Not affiliated

EO-Map is a community project for EVE Online. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Fenris Creations. Game data comes from official public sources and public community feeds. Anything editorial, such as the alliance colour table the sovereignty layer paints with, is an EO-Map choice and is labelled that way in the app rather than presented as official.

How to reach the project

Everything the map can do is documented inside the map. Open the Help panel for the full reference, or press the small question mark on any panel to jump straight to the section that covers it. Help is written as a manual rather than a tour, so it is the first place to look when something on screen is not obvious.

Feedback, bug reports and feature requests go through the channels listed in the Community and Social section of that same Help panel, which points at the project chat server and its update accounts. The Support This Project section beside it explains how the running costs are covered. Both live in the app rather than on this page, so there is only one list to keep current.
