EVE Online route planner

EO-Map is a free EVE Online route planner that runs entirely in your browser. It plans stargate routes across all 5,485 solar systems of New Eden using the same three route preferences the in-game autopilot offers, plus hard security limits the game does not give you. There is no account, no download and nothing to install.

Open the route planner

What the route planner does

Set an origin and a destination on the Point to Point tab, press Calculate Route, and EO-Map searches the whole gate graph and draws the result on the 3D map.

Sub-capital travel in EVE Online is gate travel, so the default on this tab is a stargate route. Capitals, Black Ops and jump freighters are planned on the separate jump planner tab. Public Thera and Turnur connections are an opt-in on top of that default, described below.

Route preference and security limits

Route preference is the same choice the in-game autopilot offers, weighted the way the game's published route-calculation rules describe.

Prefer shorter

Fewest gate jumps, security ignored. Jita to Amarr is 11 jumps, through the Ahbazon pocket.

Prefer safer

Stays in highsec where it can, preferring lowsec over nullsec when it must leave. Jita to Amarr becomes 34 all-highsec jumps via Uedama.

Prefer less secure

Stays in lowsec where it can. Highsec is avoided, and nullsec avoided harder still.

These are preferences, not walls: an off-preference system is still used when there is no other way. Under Advanced Options, Security penalty sets how many gate jumps one such system is worth: 10, 25, 50, or the default, which takes one only as a last resort. Nullsec counts double.

Never enter is the hard limit: tick a band and the route will not cross it even if that leaves no route at all. Origin, destination and the avoid list always win.

Bands follow true security values rather than the rounded display: highsec is 0.45 and above, shown as 0.5 and up, lowsec is anything above 0.0, and the rest is nullsec. Zarzakh is never a through-hop, because its six-hour lock forces you back out the way you came.

Waypoints, avoided systems and picking from the map

You rarely type both ends. Left-click a star to make it the origin. Right-click any star for a short menu with Set Destination, Add Waypoint and Avoid System.

Reading the result

The Route Systems window is the hop-by-hop table. Each row is one system with its region and security status, true value on hover, and from a row you can set that system as a new origin or destination or open it in Solar System View. Copy List copies the whole path.

Route Notes turns the path into paged text sized to fit the in-game note character cap, with optional extras: a legend line, a statistics summary, mail-sized pagination, and clickable stargate warp links.

Public Thera and Turnur shortcuts

A long gate route can sometimes be shortened by a public wormhole into Thera or Turnur, the two systems whose connections EvE-Scout and Signal Cartel scan and publish for everyone. That is a routing option here, not only a picture of the holes.

On the Point to Point tab, Route Intel has a checkbox labelled Use public wormholes. It is off by default. When you turn it on, the search may add currently reported public Thera and Turnur connections as temporary legs. A hole that only saves one or two gates is not used. The path still has to make sense as a trip: you scan or bookmark the signature, you fly the hole, and the connection can die while you are in transit.

EO-Map does not independently verify those reports. EvE-Scout remains the source, including the in-game public bookmark folder. This is not a map of private J-space chains, and it will not route through unreported wormholes, filaments or player jump bridges. To see the same public connections drawn on the starfield without calculating a route, open Public Wormholes from Tools Library, then Navigation.

Where the data comes from

The universe graph is built from the pinned official EVE Online Static Data Export, build 3464040: 5,485 solar systems, 13,978 directed stargate connections, 799 constellations and 70 regions. That static snapshot has no wormhole connections and no player-deployed jump bridges. Default point-to-point routing is those stargates. Public Thera and Turnur connections are the live overlay described above, not part of the pinned graph.

The search runs on your own machine, on a bidirectional Dijkstra compiled to WebAssembly, with a JavaScript solver and an A* variant under Advanced Options. All three return the same optimal cost, so the choice is about speed, not the answer. Nothing about your route is sent anywhere.

How to open it

  1. Open EO-Map and click Routing in the left rail, or use the direct link below.
  2. Stay on the Point to Point tab. Set an origin by typing a system name or left-clicking a star.
  3. Set a destination the same way, or right-click a star and choose Set Destination.
  4. Pick a route preference, and add waypoints, avoided systems or hard limits. For a possible Thera or Turnur shortcut, tick Use public wormholes under Route Intel.
  5. Press Calculate Route, then read the path in the Route Systems window.

Part of EO-Map

The route planner is one panel of EO-Map's interactive 3D map of New Eden. The same session shows live kills along the path, current alliance sovereignty, faction warfare contest state and system activity, so you can read a route and the state of the space it crosses together.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free EVE Online route planner?

Yes. EO-Map is a free, browser-based EVE Online route planner. No account, no download, all 5,485 New Eden solar systems, and the search runs on your own machine.

Can I plan a highsec-only route?

Yes. Prefer safer keeps a route in highsec wherever possible. If you need a guarantee rather than a preference, open Advanced Options and tick lowsec and nullsec under Never enter. EO-Map then says so plainly when no route exists inside those limits.

Does the route planner cover capital jump routes?

Not on the Point to Point tab, which is gate-only because sub-capital travel in EVE Online is gate travel. Capital, Black Ops and jump-freighter routes are planned on the Jump Planner tab of the same Routing panel.

Can I add waypoints and systems to avoid?

Yes. Up to ten waypoints in order, and an avoid list of any length. Right-click a star on the map to add either one. Avoided systems are skipped unless they are an endpoint of a leg.

How accurate are the jump counts?

Route lengths come from the pinned official EVE Online Static Data Export, build 3464040, with 13,978 directed stargate connections, and the security weighting follows the game's published route-calculation rules. The static graph excludes wormhole connections and player-deployed jump bridges. Public Thera and Turnur connections are a live overlay: they can be added to a route when Route Intel's Use public wormholes option is on, and EO-Map does not independently verify those reports.

Can it route through Thera or Turnur?

Yes, as an option. Default point-to-point is stargates only. Tick Use public wormholes under Route Intel and the search can add currently reported public Thera and Turnur connections from EvE-Scout / Signal Cartel. A hole that only saves one or two gates is not used. EO-Map does not independently verify the reports, and it does not route private wormhole chains.
