EVE Online combat map and PvP heatmap
EO-Map Combat paints where reported player-versus-player fighting concentrated across EVE Online, as thin rims around systems. People looking for a PvP heatmap land here: the heat is the rim, never a filled disc. Global mode shows cluster-wide volume. Alliance mode maps one alliance's geography. It is not the live kill ticker, not Activity, and not a killboard. No account and no download.
What Combat paints
Combat is a Layers overlay. A system with counted reported PvP in the selected window grows a thin red rim. Thickness and brightness follow the selected metric in that window. Intensity is relative to the systems currently painted, so a quiet 1h view and a busy 7d view do not share one absolute scale. Star colour stays whatever Color By is doing. Combat is off by default. Global and Alliance never paint at once.
- Thin rims around affected systems, not a filled raster heatmap.
- Stronger rims mean more of the selected metric in this window.
- Hover a system for the Combat card. Select it for the same facts in the panel.
- Closing Combat settings leaves the rims on if you enabled the layer from Layers.
Global reported PvP
Global mode answers where reported PvP concentrated across the cluster. Windows are completed UTC hours: 1h, 24h, 7d and 30d. The current incomplete hour is never included. A longer window that is still filling says how many hours are on hand.
Mails
Counted reported-PvP killmails in the window. This is the default map metric. NPC-flagged mails are skipped.
Destroyed
Sum of reported ISK when zKill supplied a value. Missing value is omitted, not treated as zero, so a system can have mails and still show no ISK figure.
Engagement profiles filter the Mails view. They count distinct player attackers on each counted mail: Solo 1, Small 2-10, Medium 11-24, Fleet 25 or more. That is not fleet size in the system and not a second star colour. On Destroyed, the profiles sit out because ISK is system-total. Select a system for mail count, engagement mix, ships, pods and reported ISK for the full window, not the selected profile subset.
Alliance combat geography
Alliance mode answers where one alliance's reported PvP sat. Search by name or ticker, then paint that alliance only. It is a map of fighting, not a leaderboard and not ownership of the system.
Windows are UTC days, not Global's hourly clocks. Today is always the current partial UTC day. 7d, 30d and 90d are completed UTC days ending yesterday, so they do not include Today. A longer window that is still filling says how many days are on hand. Ninety-day retention is not ninety days of history until the day count says so.
Participation
One credit per counted mail this alliance attacked. Several pilots from the same alliance on one mail still count as one. It is not unique kills and not final blows.
Losses
Counted mails where this alliance was the victim. A loss-only system can light under Losses even when Participation is empty.
Damage
Sum of this alliance's attacker damage on counted mails. Hit points, not ISK.
Attributed ISK destroyed
Kill value times this alliance's damage share. Unaffiliated and NPC damage stay in the denominator, so this is not the full value of every mail they touched.
ISK lost
Full reported value of this alliance's losses when zKill supplied one. Missing value is omitted from the sum, not invented as zero.
Pick the metric that matches the question. Select a system for participation, final blows, losses, damage, attributed ISK, ISK lost, and ship and pod kills versus losses. Final blows and ship or pod splits are details, not map metrics.
Global versus Alliance
| Mode | Question | Windows | Map metrics | Caveat |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Global | Where reported PvP concentrated | Completed UTC hours: 1h, 24h, 7d, 30d | Mails or Destroyed ISK | Current hour excluded. Profiles filter Mails only |
| Alliance | Where this alliance fought or lost | Today (always partial), then 7d, 30d, 90d completed days | Participation, Losses, Damage, attributed ISK, ISK lost | 7d does not include Today. Not a leaderboard |
Live Events, Activity and Combat
Three related surfaces. They will not match exactly. Live Events shows individual reported kills as they arrive; a mail more than 30 minutes late never enters that path. Activity paints how busy a system was from official hourly New Eden figures. Combat aggregates reported PvP over a chosen window from collector snapshots and skips NPC-flagged mails. A delayed mail can miss the ticker and still count in Combat by killmail time once that hour or day is published. A kill five minutes ago can flash live and still be absent from Combat 1h until the hour closes.
Where the data comes from
Combat is built from zKillboard's public feed of reported killmails. EO-Map's collector counts them and publishes compact snapshots. This overlay does not use the live kill socket. A mail exists only once someone has reported it, so the picture is not a complete census. Absence of a rim is not proof a system is safe. A current snapshot means publication is healthy, not that ingest is caught up or that every Tranquility loss was reported. The panel says when ingest is behind, and incomplete windows say how many hours or days are on hand. NPC-flagged mails are not Combat. This is not Faction Warfare warzone history and not Gatecamps.
How to open it
- Open EO-Map. Combat lives in Layers at the bottom left, off by default.
- Enable Combat. On desktop, › opens settings without turning the layer off.
- Choose Global or Alliance.
- Pick a window and a metric. On Global Mails, optionally pick Solo, Small, Medium or Fleet.
- In Alliance mode, search an alliance by name or ticker.
- Hover or select a rimmed system for details.
- Or use the button below to open Combat settings directly.
A layer switched on from Layers stays on after settings close. Opening Combat only from Tools Library or from /?panel=combat turns the layer off when that window closes.
Part of EO-Map
Combat is one overlay on EO-Map's 3D map of New Eden. The same session plans routes, shows sovereignty, paints Activity and flashes live kills.

Frequently asked questions
Does EO-Map have an EVE Online PvP heatmap?
Yes in the search sense: Combat shows where reported PvP concentrated. The picture is thin rims around systems, relative to the chosen window, not a filled raster heatmap.
Where does Combat data come from?
From zKillboard's public feed of reported killmails, counted by EO-Map's collector and served as snapshots. It is reported data, not a complete census of Tranquility, and not the live Events ticker.
Is Combat the same as the live kill feed?
No. Live Events shows individual reported kills as they arrive. Combat aggregates reported PvP over a chosen window and skips NPC-flagged mails. A delayed mail can be absent from the ticker and still count in Combat once that hour or day is in a published snapshot.
Can I map one alliance's losses?
Yes. Alliance mode searches by name or ticker, then Losses or ISK lost paints systems where that alliance was the victim. Participation and attributed ISK destroyed answer the attacking side. It is not ownership of the system.
Does no Combat activity mean a system is safe?
No. Unreported mails, NPC-only losses, an incomplete window, a layer that is off, and a metric that happens to be zero all look empty. Absence of a rim is not proof of safety.
What do Solo, Small, Medium and Fleet mean?
On Global Mails they count distinct player attackers on each counted killmail: 1, 2-10, 11-24, and 25 or more. They are not fleet size in the system and they do not recolour stars. Alliance mode has no engagement-profile filter.
