EVE Online system finder

System Finder is EO-Map's search over New Eden, with wormhole class and effect filters for Anoikis. Instead of looking up one system at a time, you tick the properties you care about and every matching system lights up on the 3D map at once, with a list beside it. Celestial filters cover all 5,485 solar systems in EVE Online. It is free, and it runs in your browser with no account.

Open System Finder

What you can search on

The panel starts with Geography, then wormhole class and effect, then eight celestial sections. Open one, tick what you want, and the match count at the top updates as you go.

How a query is built

Sections narrow

Every section you touch has to be satisfied. High security plus K-type plus a station means all three, not any of them.

Options widen

Inside a section, ticking two options matches either. High plus Low is 1,933 systems, the two counts added together.

Planets can do both

Planets starts on Match All, meaning one system holding every type you ticked. Switch it to Any for the looser reading.

Each option shows how many systems satisfy it on its own, which is the quickest way to judge whether a filter is worth adding. Security alone reads 1,246 high, 687 low and 3,552 null. K-type stars cover 2,307 systems. 1,753 systems hold at least one NPC station, 1,511 have no asteroid belts, 217 cannot be reached by gate at all, and just four systems have no moons.

A running summary of the active query sits above the sections as a row of chips, and Clear resets everything in one press.

Finding planets for Planetary Industry

Planetary Industry starts with a planet type. System Finder can shortlist New Eden systems that actually contain the types you need, then light them on the map.

Tick Lava, Plasma, Ice, Barren, Gas, Temperate, Storm or Oceanic in Planets. Match All finds systems that hold every type you ticked, which is the usual question when a chain needs two planet types in one system. Switch the section to Any if either type is enough. Plasma is the scarce one; Barren and Gas are common. Shattered and Scorched Barren appear in the list because they exist in the export; you cannot put a command center on them.

Then pin the search to where you actually live. Select a system and turn on hops under Geography to keep only matches within a chosen number of gate jumps, or click a result and use Sort: Distance for light-year order. Tick High under Security if you want highsec colonies, or Null if you are willing to go out for better yields.

This is not a PI planner. It does not show resource richness, extractor yield, colony layouts, timers or which P0 a planet currently has. Those change in the client. Wormhole-space planets are outside the planet-type filter; use wormhole class if you are hunting J-space systems instead.

Reading the results

Matches are drawn as rings on the map, so a query is a picture of New Eden before it is a list. The Matches list below the sections is sorted by name to begin with; the first hundred rows are shown, with a count of how many more there are.

Each row carries the system name and its region and constellation. Click a row and the map selects and flies to that system. Once a star is selected, the Sort: Distance button turns on and reorders the matches closest-first from that star, with each row showing its distance in light years. Pick a different star and the whole list re-ranks around it. If you turned on hops, the row also shows the gate-jump count from that origin.

If you already know the name of the system you want, you do not need the panel at all. The search box at the top of the map takes system, constellation and region names directly.

Where the data comes from

Security bands, star classes, gate counts and positions come from the pinned official EVE Online Static Data Export, build 3464040, in the same database the map itself loads at startup. The finer detail, planets and their types, moons, asteroid belts and NPC stations, lives in a separate static-detail database of about 21 MB that is background-loaded after the universe map renders and cached in the browser. Solar System View, Skyhook planet labels and this panel reuse it. The panel shows a percentage if that load is still in progress.

Every figure is derived from that one pinned export. Nothing is fetched from a third party, no query you build leaves your machine, and the counts do not drift between sessions.

How to open it

  1. Open EO-Map and click Tools Library in the left rail, or use the direct link below.
  2. Choose System Finder. It is in the Tools Library rather than pinned to the rail by default, and you can drag it onto the rail if you use it often.
  3. If the detail database is still loading, wait for it. After that it is instant.
  4. Open a section, tick the options you want, and watch the match count and the map update. For a PI shortlist, start with Planets, then pin hops under Geography.
  5. Click a result to select it, then switch the list to Sort: Distance to see what is nearest, or read the hop count if you set a gate-jump origin.

Part of EO-Map

System Finder is one panel of EO-Map's interactive 3D map of New Eden, so a shortlist is never the end of the job. Leave the matches highlighted and plan a route through them, check who holds sovereignty over them, see whether anything is dying there right now, or flatten the map to a 2D layout to read the shortlist as a region-by-region picture.

Frequently asked questions

Can I find PI planets, such as plasma or lava?

Yes, in New Eden. Tick the planet types under Planets. Match All finds systems that hold every type you ticked; Any finds either. Combine that with Security and with hops from a selected system to keep the shortlist near you. It does not show resource richness or colony layouts, and Shattered or Scorched Barren planets cannot take a command center.

Can I search for systems by planet type?

Yes. The Planets section lists ten types, of which eight take a command center. It starts on Match All, so ticking two types finds systems that hold both, and switching the section to Any finds systems with either. Planet-type matches are New Eden only.

How do I find systems near a particular star?

Build your query, then click any result row or any star on the map to select it. The Sort: Distance button then reorders the matches closest-first in light years. Under Geography you can also keep only systems within a chosen number of gate hops of that selection, or of your last reported location.

Can I search for a system by name?

Yes, but not in this panel. The search box at the top of the map accepts system, constellation and region names. System Finder is for the cases where you know what you want rather than where it is.

Why does it download data the first time?

Planets, moons, asteroid belts and NPC stations live in a static-detail database of about 21 MB, separate from the universe map itself. It is background-loaded after the universe map renders and cached in the browser. The panel shows a percentage if that load is still in progress.

How current is the system data?

It comes from the pinned official EVE Online Static Data Export, build 3464040. That is a snapshot of the universe layout rather than a live feed, so it changes when the export is rebuilt, not minute to minute.
